The Most Common types of Commercial Refrigeration Repairs We Get Called for Are:
Freezing Coils
This is one of the most common failures we see in commercial refrigeration. When coils freeze, the problem is often caused by the refrigerator door gaskets not sealing properly, the temperature control being set too low, low refrigerant charge, stuck thermostats, a refrigerator or walk-in cooler door that’s left open too long, or it could be a variety of other issues.
Broken Commercial Refrigerator Thermometer
These are notorious for losing their calibration. Thermometers are usually located beside the walk-in cooler or freezer door. They don’t control the system and are only for reference. Because they usually only work for a few years, we replace them for our customers with a high quality electronic version that lasts much longer.
Unstable Temperatures
This can be caused by a variety of issues such as improperly set controls, misapplied or mismatched equipment, reduced airflow, dirty coils and fans, or a worn out door gasket (see below). These issues are important to fix as soon as possible to avoid a health code violation—or worse, causing dangerous bacteria to grow in your food supplies.
Water Leaks
We often get calls from restaurant owners and other clients with puddles or slippery floors. Leaks are usually caused by a blocked drain hose, clogged defrost drain opening, or broken door gasket seal. This is a huge safety hazard that could drive up your company expenses if an employee or customer slips on the floor of your business.
The Refrigerator Stopped Working Completely
This is often caused by a loss of refrigerant charge or a failed electrical component.
Unusual Noises
Loud noises can be caused by mechanical problems, compressors, worn out fans or fan motors. These are good to act on fast to prevent expensive repairs.
The Refrigerator Door Gasket Doesn’t Seal
This is often the cause of many other commercial refrigeration problems. That’s why it’s so important to call us ASAP if it seems like your refrigerator door isn’t sealing properly.
